2. Santa’S Reindeer Flight School Candy Jar Ho Ho Ho Santa got go. So it’s time to train his reindeer to fly. This is a segment maple lidded jar, with a basket illusion technique. 217. Red Wave A hollow yellow birch globe with a red veneer wave produced by cutting an arch through the blank with a band saw and filling the cut with multiple layers of red veneer. The blank is blilnd-bored with 5/8″ drill on the lathe while held in a collet chuck in the headstock, followed by a 8mm hole through the tenon. Hollowed out with a Hunter #1 C-hook taper tool. The globe is remounted between centers and the tenon removed. The finials at the top and bottom are holly. Finials held in ER20 collets for turning. – David Mclachlan (Confident) |

Walnut Facet A larger ornament, based on a central hollow sugar maple body with walnut scales, 5/8″ bored through, and hollowed out held a 5/8″ pin mandrel leaving a small thin central web to maintain concentricity while hollowing on the pin mandrel from both ends.
