Turning A Trivet With A Touch Of Technology

This piece combines technologies: old and new – turning and laser.
The turning is a 6 inch flat tray from maple whose inside is designed for a puzzle.
The puzzle is laser cut on a 40 watt LED laser.
I love integrating methods, materials, and technology in creative ways.

Very cool, I was waiting for someone to do the puzzle. About how long did it take for the laser work start to finish? We talked about the Christmas ornament challenge at the club meeting last week – thanks for putting it on again Alan.
Actual laser time was 1-2 minutes. Design takes much longer. Lasers cut fast but etch much slower. (all relative)
