Woodturning Short Break – Simple Bark Edge Mushrooms
While this video is best viewed right here at As Wood Turns, it is also posted on YouTube, Vimeo, and Facebook
Our local club is holding remote demonstrations during this Covid-19 pandemic. Our last member demonstrator, Lauren Gibbs, showed off two versions of mushrooms as part of his series of quick projects.
Plus, the president’s challenge for next month, that we will show each other via video before next month’s remote demonstration will be mushrooms.
An indoor mushroom should be able to stand on its own.
An outdoor mushroom may be held up by extra length on its stem pushed into the ground.
My mushrooms are 3 by 4 and 3 by 5 of dry hazelnut. The smaller indoor mushroom is finished with shellac. the outdoor mushroom with the extra stem length is finished with walnut oil.
I now can do remote demonstrations for any club, world-side.

I like the idea of outside mushrooms. Seems like a fun thing, we can’t take this wood turning toooo seriously.
🙂
Thanks Alan – good project. I may try some today.
Wait only until the next time you have 15 minutes to spare and a small piece of scrap. 🙂
